Lessons, which are on Monday-Thursdays, are meant to work on technique, fix problems, and learn new concepts.

Band rehearsals, which are on Fridays, are meant to study and rehearse music in a large ensemble setting. This is also the time that we will prepare music for concerts, festivals, graduation, etc. Band rehearsals are mixed grade with the 5th and 6th grade combined, and the 7th and 8th grade combined.*

In addition to the HCS Band Program that meets during the school day, there are more options to further your involvement if you wish:

Jazz Band: Membership is open to all middle school students. Jazz band will meet on Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:30. Auditions may be necessary depending on instrument.

Graduation Band: Mainly consists of 6th and 7th grade students. Rehearsals are during the regular school day. Rehearsals start in May and performance is during graduation.

Chamber Ensembles: Students who wish may decide to play in small chamber groups that will meet before school. These groups will be decided based on student interest.

Early morning practice: All beginner and middle school students are welcome to come before school to practice on their own or if they need help on Tuesdays/Thursdays.

Sectionals: Sectionals will be scheduled during the school day or during early morning band based on need throughout the year.
